Product Description
Tailor made version of the Armored Forces patch. Such insignia was sometimes purchased privately by the soldiers, usually for wear on dress uniforms.
Unit patches actually had no prescribed regulation position when sewn to the upper sleeve, but usually they were placed 1/2"-1" under the shoulder seam. The wearer's current unit was sewn to the left sleeve, while any previous unit might be placed on the right sleeve.
In the early to mid-war period, independent tank battalions used the plain "Armored Force" patch, then started to use the numbered ones by around 1944. Armored division personnel mostly wore their appropriate divisional patch.
