We have a few WWII front seam shells with decent original paint- by "decent" I do not mean flawless and perfect, freshly unsealed from an air tight vault where they've been delicately stored just-4-u. These are great field helmets, and there was enough authentic finish left that I decided it'd be a shame to strip it off.
Thus, the pots are untouched aside from having new reproduction paratrooper OD3 chinstraps installed.
Color: These are original finish, which varies a bit in tint, shade, and flatness- but they are original. The photos of of two different helmets- one can see that one is a bit darker and less flat than the other. These are typical.
Liners are usually Westinghouse (we try but it's not 100% as we're running out), in the best shape we have. They should have no major cracks, holes or splits. These are stripped, cleaned and refitted with brand new OD3 suspension, sweatband, chin cup, nape strap, A-yokes, and leather chinstrap.
All parts are made in USA.
Notes:
Perfection? Steel helmets are NOT new. Small dings, dents or signs of their decades of service are likely. Liners are also 70+ years old and some evidence of use is certain.
Sizes? M1 Helmets come only in ONE size. The sweatband and suspension are adjustable.
Maker choices? No. However, in this case, we try to make sure these helmets have "pure" Westinghouse liner, but we cannot guarantee it. They may be Micartas.
