These are the slightly smaller pebbled buttons (16mm) often found on period Officer tunics and overcoats. This type has a post that is hand sewn on to the uniform, and the button attaches by means of a threaded shaft. This is markedly easier to use than the regular type of buttons for thick officer shoulder boards. Most (if not all) are marked "FLL" with each letter in a separate circle.
