Reproduction P38 pistol holster. The defect? Mainly, these are not "our" pattern that we made from an original holster and the contractor has used several times over the years with no problem. These are their "everybody else" design- yes, the pistol fits fine, but, compared to WWII holsters, the profile is slightly different, the belt loops are spaced further apart, and so forth. These are what 90% of other company's sell.
They also persisted in gluing a circular piece of leather over the back of the stud- originals do NOT have these. If one smacks the flap really hard, it might tap the trigger guard but it doesn't rest or ride on it. I'm sure years ago some panty wipe squalled that it would damage him's gun which inspired this addition. Anyway, the glue they used isn't holding and most are coming loose which I know will cause some crying as simply removing them leaves a clear glue mark.
Most are stamped "P38" on the back (no maker or WaA) but they forgot this on some. Lastly, I saw 2-3 so far with some belly (wrinkly) leather somewhere on them. Originals can be that way too, but Living Historians aren't as accepting as the soldiers were back then.
