Original WWII equipment ("tornister") straps. These were used to secure zeltbahns, blankets, overcoats, etc, etc to the belt or pack. These are NOT long enough to use on mess tins.
These straps are all in worn but serviceable condition- they vary from excellent to good shape.
Some have legible markings, some are there but too faint to make sense of and others have nothing discernible. Most that are marked have RB numbers. Many have soldier's names written on them- what year those soldier served who knows.
If it's not marked how do we know they are WWII??? Simple. Wartime straps are made differently than postwar ones. These have painted steel buckles, white thread, and are flesh (rough) side out. Some buckles have rollers, others do not.
The postwar straps returned to using aluminum hardware, black thread, and are normally grain (smooth) side out. They also tend to be very clearly and obnoxiously stamped "BGS" and the year. Once the War ended, the Germans went back to the fine quality workmanship of the pre-War period.
Lastly, if you order 2 or 3, they likely as not will not match one another perfectly and we do NOT offer "hand picked must have clear markings" etc, etc..
