Warning!
Dry Clean Only!
These uniforms are made from wool serge fabric. It is NOT machine washable. If you run
them in washing machine, they will pill up and shrink 2-3 inches. These
are relatively expensive garments, so it behooves one to pay attention
and not test it to see whether we're right. A large percentage of the
people who have ordered these have quizzed Gina extensively and been
rather incredulous that there's no way to use a Maytag to wash them.
We are not conspiring with Mama-san's Dry Cleaners. Ask your Mommy or
grandparents about wool and washing machines. If you think we're simply
being ignorant or paranoid, why don't you try tossing your new Armani
suit in first just to find out what happens.
Why the testy tone? We're tired of people hammering us as to whether
or not this is really true. It is, and yes, we KNOW what will happen
if you wash a wool garment in the machine. It will shrink and fuzz up.
Promise...pinkie-swear.
We will not accept any wool uniforms
for refund or exchange due to damage caused by customer failing to following
these cleaning instructions! No appeal, no discussion, no exceptions.
Period.
These even have a nice little care label in the shirts. Guess what it
says?

US Wool Shirts and Trousers: These are the standard issue garments
worn by Army and Air Corps personnel in WWII. Originals exhibit numerous
color fluctuations and minor pattern changes. We have chosen to copy
the most "typical" of each.
ATF Flannel shirts: These are produced for ATF. These are not
offered by any other company. Thus any shortcomings or peculiarities
of other repros have no bearing on ours. We know that some companies
say that their shirts run small and suggest you "order accordingly".
Informing you just how small they run would be nice. This is
not the case with our uniforms. I have personally checked (and checked
and re-checked) the patterns to ensure that they don't "run"
anything but true.
Materials: Imported. The mill in Canada we used in the past is (surprise!)
out of business. It was bought out by a company in Mexico that wants
nearly 6 months to deliver fabric. The company we have been working
with in China was able to make equivalent fabric and deliver in half
the time. They have done a bang-up job and these are as good as "our"
shirts were.
Price: Why are these garments expensive? The wool. Even overseas,
the cost of wool cannot be escaped.

Shirt FAQ
Q: Traitors! Why don't you make these in the
US of A???
A: The woolen mills are out of business. No-can-get-the-wool-no-more.
End of story.
Q: Are these are the suckie green felt shirts
sold on ebay for $50?
A: No. No relation to those "suckie"
shirts. These are as good as the ones we used to make in our shop. And we have more sizes.
The patterns are right.
The color is right.
We could sew our label in them, claim we made them here and no one would
know the difference.
U.S. Flannel Shirt, OD, Special:
Standard issue shirt worn by all troops in the Army and Air Corps
personnel throughout the War. Made from "mustard" color
wool serge cloth. The "Special" indicates that this shirt
has gas proof features. Introduced in 1942, the "Specials"
were later required for all troops participating in the Normandy Invasion.
These have a convertible collar, no placket, gas flap on the chest,
gussets on each cuff, size and spec labels.
Officers: Army officers often purchased their own shirts (see
below) or took these issue shirts to a tailor who removed some fabric
from the tail to make epaulets. Hence, the name "shaved tails"
was born. For field use, many officers simply wore these with no modifications.
Sizing: These are sized like dress shirts by neck and sleeve measurement.
Like the originals, the bodies are roomy and can easily be tailored
to fit the individual by tapering the sides. If you have never bought
a dress shirt, it's simple: using a tape measure, measure the circumference
of your neck just above the base. Then, extend your arm and measure
from the center of your neck to the end of your wrist to get your
sleeve length. Should this prove to be too difficult, then go to any
department store (Macy's, Bacon's, Dillard's, JC Penny, etc, etc)
and ask someone to measure you for a dress shirt. "M", "L",
"42R" or "Big" won't allow us to fill your order. 70% wool/ 30% acrylic.
Imported.

US Officer Wool Shirt:
Officer's and NCO's frequently purchased additional uniforms from
private tailors and department stores to supplement their standard
issue. Our officer wool shirt is a copy of the standard officer quality
garment used by Army and Air Corps officers. These are made from the
same wool serge cloth as the "special" shirts above, but
they differ in pattern. They feature a structured collar, front placket,
and epaulets.
Sizing: These are sized like dress shirts by neck and sleeve
measurement. Like the originals, the bodies are roomy and can easily
be tailored to fit the individual by tapering the sides. If you have
never bought a dress shirt, it's simple: using a tape measure, measure

Notes:
No, these will not match the Ike jackets in color. We will never have pants that match the Ikes perfectly. Originals don't either, but this isn't real history is it?
Yes, these trousers will match the Service Coats and Garrison Caps pretty well.
Yes, they are (one of several) correct WWII shades of olive drab.
Yes, it is possible that the crotches or butts will blow out. These are made like the originals with a single-stitch, non-interlocking seam.
Yes, we can repair them if they do bust. The only way to prevent this is to disregard history, and make these with a flat felled seam, which would look funny. Sorry.
When will you make 28's, 54's or 66's?????
We won't. We don't sell enough
jumbo sizes to justify the material consumption and costs of pattern
engineering.
