WWII Style caps only! We have had several customers become rather
irate that we do not have Korean or Vietnam War pattern caps. We only
cover WWII. If you want caps of post 1945 pattern, we cannot help you.
Important Sizing Notes
1. If you wear a size we don't make (We DO NOT make sizes 6 7/8, 7 1/8, 7 3/8, 7 5/8 or 7 7/8)
then simply order the next size larger. Do not order one smaller.
This is apparently a shock to several people, but if you wear a 7 1/8,
then a 7 will be too small. Yes, I'm positive. Cross my heart hope to
die and pinky swear.
Thanks!
2. All HBT caps and hats are slightly oversized (about 1/4") to allow for shrinkage. This is NOT an error. It is called experience. We have learned over the years that cotton caps shrink when they get wet and dry. Were we to make new caps true to size, they would end up too tight after they were washed or simply worn and sweated in. So, if your cap is a little loose when you try it on, that's OK. If it falls over your ears, then you need a smaller size...

"Daisey Mae" HBT Hat
Introduced in 1941 to replace the blue denim verion issued in the 1930's. The hat is made from the same sage green HBT as our 1st pattern HBT uniform. It was originally intended to issue these to all troops except for armored vehicle personnel, who were to be issued the HBT cap instead. However, the caps were more popular with everyone which led to the Daisey Mae being declared limited standard in 1943 and gradually phased out. These hats saw service in all theaters of the War.

HBT Cap, M1941
First issue fatigue and field cap made in sage green HBT. Patterned from original, unissued and unaltered samples, our
caps feature 8 pleats and 4 air vents in the body, and the bill is reinforced
with 8 rows of stitching. This cap was initially intended for armored troops and mechanics, but was quickly adopted by all army personnel. The HBT
cap was worn by all troops from late 1942 onwards. This cap (as well as the M1943) was also
used by the Marines (often with a metal EGA pinned to the front) for
most of the War as their cap (see below) did not appear until early
1945. The bill is approximately 2 inches long.

HBT Cap, M1943
Same as the M1941 cap except these are made in the darker od No. 7 color HBT and the bill is about 1/2" longer (so that is 2.5" total.)
Bottomline, we copied an original. These are correct.

Hey!
Jarheads and Jarhead wannabes! Listen up.
I know
you meatheads call hats and caps "covers". Although marine talk is very cool and impressive, the girls here
speak normal, non-USMC English. If you order a "cover" you will
likely as not receive some sort of helmet cover instead. Save your high-
speed marine lingo for your buddies. It will just cause problems here.
Clear? Thanks.
USMC P44 Cap
Up until late 1944, the
Marines used the Army M1943 cap (above). (Some references will call
this a "P41 cap"; but it is really just the Army cap in Marine
service.). It was worn with a pin on EGA or no insignia. The P44 is
the same design, except for slightly longer bill and the top has been rotated about 20 degrees
to put the flat to the front and allow the EGA to be printed on. They
did not see widespread service until Iwo Jima due to their late introduction.
Our P44 caps were copied from an original WWII cap. The
EGA's are professionally applied and heat cured. Like originals, EGA's may be partially obscured by the band or off center by up to 3mm. If this is unacceptable, DO NOT ORDER ONE. Caps are sewn with
khaki thread.

US Camo Cap
Farb/ Fantasy Item! So many people
have howled for these that we have acquiesed and made a farb item. All
historical evidence indicates that these caps were never, ever issued
WWII. These would have been a tailor or field made item only. The only
original photos of camo caps in use are those of 3 Marines of the 2nd
Division on Saipan in 1944. There are also a handful of supposedly original
"theater made" caps attributed to the 11th
Airborne Division, also known as "Swing Caps". (General
Joseph Swing was the 11th ABN divisional commander.) Again, the evidence
is scant at best.
Our caps are made in the same pattern as the USMC P44 caps. Although
the caps worn by the 3 Marines on Saipan appear to be made without any
pleats (like a baseball cap), a photo of an "original" Swing
cap shows the USMC pattern with the flat front. (And an Airborne tab
affixed.) Due to their "field made" status as well as their
dual Army/ USMC application, these will not be made with EGA's.
Put an EGA on for me? No, not possible. We cannot get the screen
to lay flat on assembled caps. Use a metal one like real Marines
did.
Yes, these are made from the same (in other
words matching) HBT cloth as our new Camo uniforms. Non-reversible.
$20.00
All caps are green side out. These are NOT reversible and we do not have, nor will we have, caps that are brown side out.
