M1910 Canteen Cover
Exact copy of the WWII canteen cover. The #8 canvas and gray wool lining
are identical to original materials, as are all hardware used. When
we started making our pattern, we discovered that there are 2 or 3 different
sizes of the things (whether this was intentional or some of the factories
had sloppy cutting departments we don't know). We chose to go with the
larger size as this prevents the "tar baby" syndrome common
to those with small or shrunken covers when they try to remove their
canteen cups.

M1941 Canteen Cover, Mounted
Originally designed for use by cavalry troops, this cover has become
closely associated with Airborne troops in recent years. It was never
listed in the quartermaster catalog as anything other than "mounted",
meaning for guys with horses.
NOTE: The "Airborne" connection seems to have been
assigned by collectors and reenactors who mistakenly assume that anything
with extra stitching was worn only by paratroopers. As far as we can
tell, these were issued indiscriminately to all troops. This is
not and was not officially an "Airborne" item. This was official
(not fantasy) a cavalry item as per the US Army Quartermaster, WWII.
The wire hook is attached with a longer piece of 2" webbing, and
this is further reinforced with 5/8 web straps at the top and bottom.

M1910 Canteens
US WWII dated canteens. Most are dated 1945. These are used, but serviceable.
Most need to have their cap chains reattached to the flask, some are
missing their cap corks and nearly all have a dent. We recommend a good
cleaning for any of them.
Dearest Nitpickers, Esteemed Collectors and "Discriminating"
Enthusiasts:
No date choice. All are 50-60 years old.
If you want hand-picked-dent-and-blemish-free-premium-collector grade
add $150.
Demand perfection? Then these are not for you. Regardless of how condescending,
snotty, rude, uppity or asinine you become on the phone, it will not
change facts. If this upsets you, good. It's healthy to be turned down
once in awhile....

US WWII Canteen Cups
Standard issue cup, into which the canteen fits. They are worn together
inside the cover. These are all WWII dated, most are 1945. Details vary.
Condition is good to very good, serviceable. All need a good cleaning
before use! Obligatory Weenie/ discerning collector warning: Most
if not all have a dent or ding (possibly both) and some evidence of
having been used at some point in the last 60 years. If this situation
is unacceptable, don't order one. Simple. Yes, these snippy comments
are really necessary. A small percentage of customers are absolutely
obsessed with perfection and assume it to be the case unless stated
otherwise. "Snippy" they comprehend better than any other
tone.
