Parachute First Aid Packet
Kit issued to airborne and glider troops as a supplement to their regular first aid kits. The original packets contained a field dressing, a tourniquet and a morphine syrette. They were tied to the helmet, uniform or equipment. Our repros look and feel exactly like the real thing. They are made from khaki cotton duck fabric with color matched twill tape ties. (These are professionally dyed at a plant, not in a tub in the kitchen.) They contain WWII field dressings (most are British, but they are WWII dated) and a web strap similar to a tourniquet. (Sorry, no stupid yuck-yuck comments about a dose of morphine. That should be a no-brainer.) Other repros are stuffed with cotton balls, cardboard scraps or tampons. So if you get an "ouchie" and have a gusher, you can rip these open and find a bandage instead of a tampax.

WW II Carlisle Bandage, Olive Drab
Unissued, new from the case OD painted originals. Individual field dressing carried in the first aid pouch above. These are the 1941-42 manufacture made from the brass cans, with crystalline sulfanilamide.

WW II Carlisle Bandage, Orange
Carlisles including the sulfa packet, but without that information printed on the bottom of the tin, were painted orange to indicate the inclusion of said packets. Mint, unissued, new from the case.

WW II Carlisle Bandage, M1943
As an economy measure, the tins were replaced in 1943 with a waxed cardboard outer box with an inner sleeve. The bandage is wrapped in a foil and paper wrapping. Unissued, though the box may have a few storage scuffs.
